The purpose is to provide funding for individuals who are seeking water sector operator education, training, or certification to enter the industry or to advance their knowledge, skills, abilities or license.
Application Requirements and Criteria:
i. Individuals seeking an entry-level operator’s license
ii. Or, an entry or experienced operator seeking professional development in the following areas:
- Municipal and industrial treatment
- Reuse
- Collection and distribution
- Stormwater
iii. Completed online application including a brief essay on your experience and career goals. Applications are open January 15 - March 31 (close at 11:59PM Eastern).
If awarded, the recipients of the Operator Scholarship must complete and submit a ‘Summary Report’ form, detailing the use of the Scholarship funds, before December 31st of this year. WEF will email recipients a blank Summary Report form at the time of fund facilitation. If recipients do not complete and submit this form before the end of the year, they will not be eligible to apply for this Scholarship in the future.

Scholarship Amount:
Up to $5,000 dollars
Awardees must submit cost documentation in their application to receive funds. Applicants who are new to the industry (seeking initial certification or currently have the lowest level of certification in their state) may include WEF membership fees in their documentation costs.
